Lord Ashdown: George Osborne's AV attacks 'bizarre'

On the fifth of May there will be a referendum in the UK about whether the choosing system must change. They now use the first past the post system, where the election is won by the candidate with the most votes. This can be changed into the alternative vote system, where the voters rank the candidates. The candidate who gained more than fifty per cent of the votes wins. Lord Ashdown, former leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, accused current Chancellor of Exchequer, George Osborne, of frighten the public into voting pro keeping the first past the post system.

I think the first past the post system should not be changed. I think it’s a good and fair system to choose a prime minister. Though I love the show around an election or in this case a referendum. Mud is thrown, names are called and the opposite parties can drink the blood of each other. I just like the drama in politics and the age-old battle between the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives.
