Girl has three kids aged 16

Last month she gave birth to her third child at the age of sixteen.  The Bulgarian Tinka Angelova, first became mother at thirteen and married the year after that. When she met her husband she was still playing with dolls. Illegal according to the law for Bulgaria joined the European Union in 2007. The legal age for sex and marriage is sixteen. The officials choose not to expose this issue because they didn’t want to jeopardise their votes. Now it did come out, Bulgaria must put an end to this practise. Offenders of this law will get two years behind bars but it is just a matter of time.

This girl lives in poverty with her three kids and her husband who is nine years older. She fills her days with taking care of her children hoping that social services won’t take them away. This girl lives in fear, poverty and her childhood is taken away form her. That can’t be a happy life or the life she would have expected to have. I don’t think I have to say that this is ridiculous, outrages and unacceptable because that is obvious. It is not just a problem in Bulgaria but it happens all around the world, so I hope the Bulgarian will solve this problem and not by taking her babies, but by raise the awareness that it is not done to have sex or get married under the age of sixteen, at least.

Cadbury's Naomi Campbell ad campaign 'not racist'

‘Move over Naomi there is a new diva in town’, was the new advert of Cadbury’s Bliss range of Dairy Milk chocolate. Past tense because the company agreed to withdraw this when they found out Naomi Campbell was shocked by it. Deeply upset even told the mother of the super model, who thinks the advert is racist. Thee chocolate company defended their advertisement by saying that with the line they refer to the diva behavior Campbell is known for, instead of the color of her skin. The Advertisement Standards Authority agreed with Cadbury.

It is beyond me that a super model with already a reputation of a diva and a criminal record could pull this of. I mean, apparently she still have a reputation of getting things done her way. Though I also think, ethically, that the Cadbury company should have asked for her consent to use her name in their advertisement. Especially when they use the negative side of the celebrity. I wouldn’t like it if they use my name in a bad way for advertisement to sell their product, even when I’m not aware of it. In a way Naomi linked her name to a product she did not consent to or even was aware of.
I don’t think you can associate the ad with racism.

Winehouse Cancels Euro Gigs After Crowd Jeers

After a poor performance in Serbia, Amy Winehouse canceled a part of her European tour. The gig in Serbia was reviewed by their media as a “scandal” and “disaster”. Fans booed  and jeered when Amy arrived and stumbled on stage an hour late. Fans were not at all blown away by her performance where she was mumbling through her songs and sometimes even wondering off. A statement from Amy’s manager said that miss Winehouse cannot perform to the best of her abilities and apologizes to her fans. With a past of drugs and alcohol, Amy has to help herself.

I feel really bad for the fans in Serbia but I also feel very bad for Amy. I hope she will get over her addictions because she is a really good singer and songwriter. Though I also secretly think it’s a rock star thing. Or maybe it was a rock star thing living the life as a rock star you must be addicted to something and just go with it, sex, drugs and rock and roll. Maybe living like a rock star isn’t that glamorous anymore and the fans just want to listen to the music instead of worshipping a rock star.

Fury at Baftas snub for Scots legend Gerard Kelly

A memoriam section was held at the Bafta award show where they left out Scots legend Gerard Kelly what caused fury by his fans. A co-worker of Kelly accused Bafta of being too focussed on England, "It was like a punch in the stomach when Kelly's name didn't come up." Gerard Kelly was known in the 1980’s as Willie Melvin in the comedy City Lights. He also starred in soap series as, Brookside and Eastenders what gained him a huge fanbase. Kelly died last October at the age of fifty-one after a brain aneurysm.

It is sad that important people are forgotten by big events like the Baftas award bash. I can understand where the fans are coming from, when they get mad if their idol is missed among other idols. Though this is easy for me to say because I don’t really have one person I really admire, but I don’t think they should make a big deal out of this. If you love your idol so much you can worship him or her at home. Why do you need to force other people to go along in your worshiping, just get over it.

Heathrow Express hit by strike action

The members of the National Union of Rail, Maritime of Transport Workers, planned a strike for next Friday. Their service will be put down for 48 hours from 3.40 am. But they won’t leave it at that because the next two strikes are also planned in June and July. The two-year pay deal worth 0.2 per cent above the Retail Price Index in 2012 made by Heathrow Express was rejected. RMT certified this decision with the fact that they are willing to negotiate this matter or even improve the offer, but the company made no attempt in such order. The result is that the passengers of the Heathrow Express are forced to find other transportation starting next Friday.

As a regular passenger of the Dutch rails, I would be furious if the NS would strike for 48 hours and have two other strikes planned ahead. This action will affect a massive amount of people, which would not be necessary in my opinion.
Though on the other hand, I can understand the action. If the majority of the employers don’t get paid enough for their work a strike is inevitable, within reason of course. If the highest demand they have is not reasonable, I think they should just go for the two-year pay deal and stop the strike, and maybe try to increase their loan again next year.
