A celebrity has sued social media network ‘Twitter’ for the first time. A premier league football player, who is married, was accused of having an affair with the Big Brother star: Imogen Thomas on Twitter. A mystery user of twitter, posting the alleged affair, mentioned his name. His lawyers are filing a complaint not only against Twitter, but also against the mystery user who is responsible for the publication of the information on his or her account. They demand the identity of this mystery user to be revealed. Twitter, based in San Francisco, only commented the story with: “We are unable to comment”.
This story is a perfect example for the danger of the Internet. There are so many things that can go wrong or hacked or anything. Recently personal information of credit cards and such where stolen from hundreds of play station players. And in the Netherlands there was this girl who was arrested because she twittered about assessing a Dutch politician. How serious are we allowed to take the information spread on the Internet or social media? How serious do you take the information gained from the social media? I’m not a member of the computer generation, though I do follow these trends but, not really actually. I’d rather be social in real life then behind my laptop.
